A summer has passed since Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer found out about Mona being “A” and Maya’s death. With the terror seemingly over and an alleged murderer now behind bars, the town of Rosewood is slowly healing from old and new wounds and trying to get back to normalcy. Each of the four girls spent their summer in different ways – Aria taking a photography class, Spencer taking college courses at Hollis, Hanna taking cooking classes with Caleb and Emily building houses in Haiti. But what looks normal for each girl is not necessarily so, as all four are hardly over what happened. With post-traumatic stress, anger and the acquisition of more secrets the four Liars are anything but fine. Now all back together and coming upon the second anniversary of Alison’s disappearance, the girls find themselves back on the defensive when a shocking event rocks Rosewood. 

Rosewood’s Junior League Masquerade Gala is the perfect setting for “A’s” next game of cat and mouse with his/her favorite targets. But with Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer fast on his/her heels, will this game be “A’s” last? 

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer search for the meaning of new clues leads them to a doll hospital that holds some very familiar looking dolls and a little boy that knows more than he leads onto. But what would bring Ali to such a creepy and weird location on her hunt for “A?” And what can the four girls learn about the secrets that are stashed away on the shelves between forgotten playmates? 

Meanwhile, Jenna’s surgery brings about more than just the possibility of regaining her sight. 

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are on the quest for answers of what Alison knew before she died and they might have just gotten a big lead when someone from Alison's past appears. Duncan might hold the key to all of the girls' answers, but can they trust him to let down their guard? And just when they feel like Duncan may be the only lead, Jason drops off a bag of Alison's personal items that could be more than just a bag of junk.

Meanwhile, Toby's return to Rosewood brings a surprise reunion that ends dangerously.

Caleb's involvement in cracking "A's" phone has had Hanna worried from day one and now "A" is determined to punish him for it. With Det. Wilden and Garrett now circling Caleb on bogus hacking charges and in possession of his computer, Hanna and her friends are convinced that this won't end well. What are the police looking for on Caleb's computer and better yet, would could "A" have possibly planted on the computer to interest the police this much? Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer may soon get another example of what happens to people they involve in "A's" game.

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have been the target of “A’s” games for awhile, leaving them emotionally cut off from their families and friends. But when a surprising new victim of “A” is revealed, the PLLs tight-knit group may just get one person larger. But what is “A’s” motive of targeting someone outside of Alison’s group of besties?

Meanwhile, Spencer runs from her family troubles right into Wren’s arms, as Ezra’s new opportunity could push him away from Aria. 

One father has a guilty conscience, one has a daughter he doesn’t trust, one is hiding a secret from his daughter and the other father is MIA – all-in-all it is not the ideal time for Rosewood’s annual Father-Daughter Dance. With fathers looking to make amends and daughters trying to keep the peace, the annual dance looks to be anything but fun.

Meanwhile, Ashley continues her hunt to find answers about what is going on with Hanna with help from a surprising source.

Rosewood High’s "Truth-Up Day," is not just an opportunity for the students of the school to air their grievances and stop bullying, but also a chance for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer to get answers to some burning questions. Spencer looks to find answers on what is going on between Jason and her father when Jason shows up as a chaperone; Aria continues to question Holden on what exactly he is up to during their "date nights," and Hanna tries to figure out the latest situation with Kate. But will the girls be ready for what they find out when shocking truths are revealed?

Meanwhile, Emily gets help from an unlikely source to get back on the Rosewood swim team. 

After putting her foot down about Caleb with her friends, Hanna begins to feel that she is getting the cold shoulder from them. Aria [Lucy Hale],Emily [Shay Mitchell] and Spencer [Troian Bellisario] seem to be up to something, but she can’t quite seem to figure out what it is. But what Hanna may take as the cold shoulder, could really be just a case of guilty consciences from her friends.

With Lucas missing and questions surrounding what happened out on the lake, Hanna can barely catch her breath. With Caleb determined to find his friend, Hanna’s reluctance to help only causes more problems. Can Hanna really tell Caleb what happened in the boat without tipping him off to her larger "A" problem? And if she did tell him, would he be willing to stick around after hearing all the horrible things Hanna has done?

The best way to get to someone is through the people they love, and “A” knows this better than anyone.  Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have had to sacrifice a lot at the gloved hands of “A,” especially when it comes to love. Toby continues to pursue Spencer, knowing that she is keeping something from him. With another “accident” possibly popping up at any minute, Spencer is desperate to keep Toby safe and can think of only way to truly end it. Also worried about her relationship, Hanna begs the other girls to stop using Caleb to help with their search. The more involved Caleb gets, the bigger target he becomes. But is the valuable information Caleb is finding more important to the others than Caleb’s safety? 

Meanwhile, Aria is desperate to save her relationship with Ezra still not returning her calls. Will one more “date” with Holden give Aria the opportunity to get the answer from Ezra she is longing for?

After their recent encounter with “A,” Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer think they may be closer than ever to figuring out whom “A” really is. But when the girls decide to enlist Caleb’s hacking skills to help with their quest, Hanna no longer wants a part of the plan. The last thing Hanna wants is to get Caleb involved in something else shady and also to open the door to questions that Hanna can’t answer. Once the girls realize that “A” has a helper, Hanna has no other choice. Instead of focusing on figuring out who the “helper” is, Hanna decides to put all of her efforts into throwing a surprise party for Caleb. But will a surprise party at Spencer’s lake house be the diversion Hanna is looking for, or just a recipe for disaster?

The streets of Rosewood are festive and little kids are running around the streets hoping for a good year of trick or treats and five best friends are looking forward to the biggest party of the season. It is the Halloween before Alison went missing and the only concern for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer is to score an invite to Noel Khan's Halloween party. But with a new girl in town to challenge Ali for Queen Bee dominance, Spencer possibly losing the class president election along with her parents' approval, and a shocking revelation for Aria about her father - there may be more to worry about than finding the perfect costume. All is not what it seems for four Pretty Little Liars as “A” sends them on a hunt to destroy lives in order to save another, in “Over My Dead Body,” the midseason finale of Pretty Little Liars.

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have made a crucial mistake – they told someone about “A” and now they must pay the price. With the clock ticking and “A” calling the shots, the girls are sent on missions to do “A’s” bidding in order to save their trusted confidant. Each mission will ultimately lead to what the four liars want the most, but at a costly price to their loved ones and themselves. Can Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer go through with their given tasks in order to save one, or will they ignore “A” to save those around them from being hurt? And ultimately, will this matter when all is said and done? Nothing is ever as it seems in Rosewood, PA.

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer finally decide to tell someone about "A" in "I Must Confess."

After being pushed around, threatened and more by "A," Emily is at a breaking point and her friends know that something drastic has to be done to save her. The girls turn to the only person they have come to trust and know that she can’t let their secrets out – Dr. Anne Sullivan. Finally being able to reveal the torment that "A" has put them through to someone outside of the tight-knit group gives the girls a sense of relief and Emily a new sense of courage. But with the cat being out of the bag, has a weight really been lifted off their shoulders, or could it possibly have just provoked a beast? And now that Dr. Sullivan is aware of “A” and what the girls have been put through, could she be next on "A’s" target list?

Meanwhile, Hanna’s grandmother comes to town to stir up trouble for Tom’s rehearsal dinner. 

Complex situations land the Liars in hot water in "Touched by an ‘A’-ngel."

Aria finds herself in a difficult position when trying to process Spencer and Emily’s news about Jason, while dealing with what happened at the park and her undeniable feelings for him. How could Jason be the dangerous person that her friends say he is, when he has shown nothing but compassion and vulnerability to her? With Aria waffling on her stance on Jason, Spencer decides drastic times call for drastic measures. But will Spencer’s actions help Aria to see Jason for who Spencer thinks he really is, or only push Aria closer to Jason? Hanna finds herself in a different kind of prickly situation when she tries to play nice with her future step-sister, Kate, only to have things go horribly wrong.

Meanwhile, "A" turns up the heat on Emily by trying to push her to a breaking point.

Tonight's episode of Pretty Little Liars had plenty of surprises — what else is new? — but the one we're most upset about is the apparent departure of Caleb Rivers (Tyler Blackburn). Is this the last we'll see of the troublemaker with the beautiful hair and the heart of gold? Say it ain't so! We're assuming he'll be back to the show soon, but that's the same thing we thought about previous love interests on the show, like Sean (Chuck Hittinger), Paige (Lindsey Shaw), and Maya (Bianca Lawson). The Liars are ill at ease when they each have to confront complicated matters in "Surface Tension."

It's moving day for Emily, and with a new place to call home, she is feeling more like a guest than part of the family. Hanna is also feeling uneasy, but for her it is in regard to Caleb’s continued shady “business” dealings and his nonchalant attitude about it. And when Toby makes a surprising discovery, Spencer is thrown for a loop by the find and her father’s reaction to it. With the girls already on edge, could they be sitting targets for “A’s” next move? Or does “A” have bigger plans for the four and is just making them wait?

Meanwhile, Aria is put in a tricky position when both Ezra and Jason are invited to the Montgomery dinner party and vie for her attention when the soiree goes awry.

All of the lies finally take a toll on one of the Liars with dangerous results in "Save The Date."

Emily has been juggling a lot of secrets and lies lately, and with a surprise visit from her father before a big swim meet, the pressure gets to be too much for her - sending her to the hospital. But with the prospect of having to come clean to her father about Danby, Emily realizes she has bigger problems when “A” reveals his/her part in Emily's swim career. While visiting Emily, Spencer and Aria take the opportunity to try and do more digging around about the cause of Alison's death and how the broken field hockey stick may play a part in the last few moments of their friend's life.

Meanwhile, Hanna struggles with the prospect of losing both men in her life when her father's wedding "Save the Date" arrives, and the possibility of Caleb running out of Rosewood before his past can come back to haunt him.

The Liars are taken by surprise when Alison’s mother returns to Rosewood, in “Never Letting Go.” 

On the eve of the Rosewood Charity Fashion Show, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are surprised with Jessica DiLaurentis’ (guest star Andrea Parker, “The Pretender”) return to town and her request that they participate in the show on Alison’s behalf. Aria takes up the opportunity to try and help jog Jason’s memory of the night Ali disappeared, as Hanna starts to get her hopes up that her father’s attendance may mean more than he’s letting on. Spencer, on the other hand, quickly learns that, while she has been dealing with larger issues, Mona has stepped in and taken charge of running the event. As the charity event gets closer, walking down a runway in a fancy gown may not seem that hard, but nothing is ever easy for four pretty little liars.

Meanwhile, Emily reevaluates her casual dating stance when it starts to look like Samara might be dating someone else.

Facing a known evil is much easier to deal with for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer than the unknown kind that’s only a text message away, in "The Devil You Know."

As the shocking news about Ian makes the rounds through Rosewood, Aria, Emily, Hanna, Spencer and their families all try to cope with the outcome and some much needed closure. With her home life particularly in turmoil, Spencer stays focused on her family and the surprising support she gets from her parents. Emily, on the other hand, can’t seem to find the closure that others are relishing, but rather digs her heels in to find any shred of evidence they may have over looked. And Aria looks to find comfort in Ezra, but with their relationship still new to the outside world, the couple struggles to be so public so fast. With everyone looking for comfort and sharing a huge sigh of relief, could Emily be right and the devil they think has been put to rest is nowhere near the evil that still looms out there, just waiting for the Liars to get theirs?

Meanwhile, Hanna gets a surprising look into Caleb’s life after his shady foster mother surfaces.

A helping hand is needed to get out of some tricky situations for the Liars, in "Blind Dates."

After getting Lucas a date with his new dream girl, Hanna feels the need to help him out when Lucas starts to unravel as the date swiftly approaches. But when Caleb is thrown into the mix and Hanna’s idea of what is helpful starts to backfire, Lucas' date takes a downward turn. With her mother blaring to the world about her scholarship commitment, Emily is at the edge of spilling the truth behind the fake letter. But with some help from a surprisingly supportive Samara, maybe the situation isn’t as dire as Emily once thought. Spencer, on the other hand, is certain that the situation with Melissa and her mysterious communication with Ian is only getting more serious, and Spencer feels that Wren may be the only one who can finally help give her the answers she is looking for. But is Spencer, and the other Liars, ready for what they might find at the end of the search?

Meanwhile, Aria has a chance encounter with Jason that brings back some surprising memories.

As Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer try to keep their distance from each other, each girl looks to distractions to help fulfill the “separate time” request from their parents. Aria channels her inner artist and signs up for a pottery class at Hollis College. Not only does the class qualify as “separate time,” but it also gives her an excuse to see Ezra on campus, so there are benefits on both sides -- that is until she finds out Jenna is also taking the class. Emily stays focused on her swimming career and how that could help her stay in Rosewood. When she doesn’t get the solid commitment from Danby University, Emily comes up with a way to fudge things to convince her mom to stay. But will goody-two-shoes Emily be able to go through with her sneaky plan? Feeling like the only one who doesn’t have a hobby, Hanna turns to Lucas to see if she can join the yearbook staff to fill her time. But with Lucas still hurting from their last encounter, Hanna’s new hobby might be trying to make amends.

Meanwhile, Spencer notches up her suspicions about what is going on in the DiLaurentis house now that Jason has moved back in. And with Melissa sneaking around and getting mysterious text messages, Spencer wonders what her sister has to do with what is going on next door.

On the eve of many "goodbyes," Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer must come to terms with being kept apart, in "The Goodbye Look."

With the girls being forced to go their separate ways for a bit, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer need each other now more than ever. Emily struggles with her family’s impending move to Texas, but when a college athletic scout approaches her after a swim meet, she sees an opportunity that could keep her in Rosewood. Hanna’s father returns to town; with her friends at arm’s length, will she forgive Mona so she has someone to lean on? And Spencer tries to be supportive of Toby’s new plans to free himself of his family and Rosewood.

Meanwhile, on the eve of Ezra’s last day at Rosewood High, he begs Aria to meet him so they can work things out. Aria, on the other hand, is not so sure there’s anything left to say. But is she really ready to say goodbye to Mr. Fitz for good?

With all eyes in Rosewood looking at Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer, the girls are forced to seek help in "It's Alive," the Season 2 premiere.

With Ian's body missing and the entire town of Rosewood questioning what exactly happened the night before at the church, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have a lot of explaining to do. But with the police and their parents not quite sure what to believe, the girls' parents rally together to try and help the four out with the assistance of a therapist (guest star Annabeth Gish). Now being forced to talk out their problems, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer feel more alone than ever. Even with a reassurance that everything they discuss won't leave the therapist's office, is this the person the Liars can finally tell about "A?" Or is there no place safe from "A's" watchful eye?

Meanwhile, love is on the rocks for the girls when Spencer is forbidden to see Toby, Aria cools things off with Ezra, and Caleb comes back to town for Hanna.

Caleb leaves town just as everyone is preparing for the Founder’s Festival. Spencer (Troian Bellisario) is still in shock about the sweater fibers that the police found in her room last week, so Hanna(Ashley Benson) agrees to get info from Caleb. And Spencer’s mom tells her to avoid spending time with Toby, so people don’t get suspicious of her...

At the beginning of the episode, Spencer catches Melissa and new husband Ian whispering. Later, Spencer spots Melissa’s ovulation kit (meaning that Ian may soon be a father — shudder!). Then, Hanna finds out from “A” that she’ll get her mom’s stolen money back if...

But even with the mysterious ghost no longer looming over their heads, the girls' problems are far from over. With a surprise visit by a father, a surprise gift from a prospective paramour, getting some unwanted advice and an undeserved scholarly accolade, the girls' lives continue to get more complicated by the day. And after dealing with all of that, did the Pretty Little Liars really think they could keep "A" away forever?
